Director, Tapestry Singers Betsy is a third generation Skagway, Alaskan who commuted bi-annually (running her business in the summer and going to school in the winter) between Washington and Alaska until she graduated from UPS with a degree in music. She then moved from Tacoma to Puyallup, retired from business and still spends most of her summers in Alaska playing with grandchildren or working on her cabin. She has over 25 years experience conducting church choirs and community choruses in the Northwest. In fact, if you happen to be in San Francisco this year, you may hear her directing "Skagway Christmas Chorus" on NPR. Betsy likes her groups to be community-oriented, thus "Tapestry" has in it's schedule benefits for the F.I.S.H. Food Bank and "Purrfect-Pals" cat haven. "Loose Threads" perform regularly for retirement homes and seniors. Students are encouraged to perform with "Tapestry" and scholarships are available. Betsy's other credits include directing Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado and Thornton Wilder's Our Town for Puyallup's "Spot-Light Players". Coming in February 2000: perennial favorite, Arsenic and Old Lace. |
