LIGHT OF LADY LIBERTY

PROGRAM PROCEEDS BENEFIT

THE TONE SCHOOL

Founded in 1988, the first of its kind in the USA, serves over 500 homeless children per year, plus those who participate in the summer programs. Children between ages 4 and 15 attend the school. The teachers and school nurse positions are funded by the federal and state governments. The Tacoma School District provides the facility, bussing and admin support. However, the children need school supplies and clothing. Each child is provided with a backpack containing school supplies and personal care items. They are given two hot meals per day. Mental and physical health care are provided as needed.

For all these reasons, Gene Tone school depends on volunteer assistance to allow them to bring some normalcy into these children's disrupted lives. To help, please call Tamie Williams at the school (253) 571-1875.

HELPING HAND HOUSE

Founded in 1984, Helping Hand House is the only agency in Eastern Pierce County to provide emergency housing to displaced families. The goal of H.H.H. is to restore the family's dignity, self worth and self sufficiency. Services provided include emergency housing, food, health and dental care, and Life Skills classes. These services help to stabilize the family and provide transitional housing during the return to employment. Partnership with community resources ensures the ability of H.H.H. to continue and to develop model programs.
